why your skin will love microneedling

Smaller pores, softer lines and wrinkles, no scarring, an even-toned complexion…if only there was a magic wand that could help with all of these skin concerns. Guess what? You’re in luck, because there is! Say hello to microneedling with the SkinPen - let’s get into what makes this treatment so incredible and why it is the treatment to uncover your best skin.

what is microneedling?

The SkinPen device utilizes a disposable tip containing 14 tiny needles that vertically stamp the skin at a high speed. By creating micro-channels in the skin (1600 per second to be exact!), we can harness the body’s natural healing process to visibly transform the skin as damaged tissue is removed, cell to cell communication is improved, and collagen production is stimulated.

The SkinPen is as safe and effective as a fractional laser, but with a significantly shorter recovery period. During treatment, a topical numbing cream is applied to allow for a near painless experience, but you may feel pressure and a vibrating sensation. Immediately after, you may feel like you have a mild to moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This is completely normal and will usually subside within a few hours, and will typically recover completely within 24 hours. Goodbye downtime, hello results.

what are the benefits of microneedling?

Microneedling is an incredibly effective skincare treatment that can help improve the overall health and appearance of your skin. It treats a wide range of skin concerns including acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and pore size. Since the treatment doesn’t utilize heat or chemicals, it is completely safe for all skin types and can be done year-round.

when can I see results and how long do they last?

While you may notice healthier looking skin immediately, the natural process of your own skin continues to progress over the course of several weeks. New dermal tissue, rich in collagen and elastin proteins, starts 21 days after treatment and continues to build in the skin up to a year after. Depending on the condition of your skin before the treatment and how your skin responds, results can last for several months.

Most people will need 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart to achieve their desired results. By doing an initial series of treatments closer together, you will more quickly see visible improvements in the skin and can then transition to maintaining your results. Your provider will work with you and set up a treatment plan best suited for your specific needs.
